Smoke Free Environment Policy

The Northern Territory Firearms Council Inc operations consist primarily of meetings of delegates of member associations.


Council requires that such meetings are held in a smoke free environment. Delegates that wish to smoke may only do so in areas especially designated for Smoking in accordance with the NT Tobacco Control Act and Regulations.


Council does not directly employ workers but on occasion may utilise the services of a recruitment agency.


Council requires that its office is maintained as a smoke free environment and any employees or visitors that wish to smoke may only do so in areas especially designated for Smoking in accordance with the NT Tobacco Control Act or Regulations.


Member and Delegate Protection Policy

The Northern Territory Firearms Council Inc operations consist primarily of meetings of delegates of member associations and are therefore not involved with the administration of sporting events.


Council nevertheless wishes to protect the rights of individual delegates of member associations and sectors against unfair and discriminatory practices and behaviour. Council promotes open, robust but considered discussion within meetings. Council will not tolerate personal attacks by delegates against other delegates, harassment of any kind nor discrimination against any delegate on racial, religious or any other grounds.


Council requires that member associations select their delegates to Council in accordance with the selection criteria at Schedule 1 of the Council constitution. Council then requires delegates to comply with the written code of conduct attached to this policy. Duties and obligations of Council delegates are outlined in a document provided to delegates.


Council does not directly employ workers but on occasion may utilise the service of a recruitment agency. Employees of Council shall be given the same rights and respect as shown to delegates.


Child Protection Policy

The Northern Territory Firearms Council Inc, being a meeting of delegates of member associations and groups has no involvement with children. Council nevertheless encourages member shooting associations that do have involvement with children to adopt and implement child protection policies which both comply with and fulfil the requirements of NT legislation and the recommendations of the Australian Sport Commission.


Council fully endorses and promotes the adoption of all practicable measures to protect children in the sport of shooting whether in a controlled club environment or in an informal field situation.


Anti Doping Policy

The Northern Territory Firearms Council Inc operations consist primarily of meetings of delegates of member associations and therefore not involved with the administration of sporting events.


Council nevertheless encourages member associations to adopt and implement anti doping policies which both comply with and fulfil the requirements of NT legislation and the basic recommendations of the Australian Sport Commission


Council does not directly employ workers but on occasion may utilise the services of a recruitment agency.


Council does not tolerate consumption of illicit drugs by employees of the agency engaged by Council during the performance of their duties. Employees who have been found to have taken illicit drugs during the performance of their duties will be given a "two strikes and you are out" notice in writing. If the behaviour persists after such notice has been given in writing, Council will request the employment agency to immediately replace the employee.


Responsible Alcohol Management Policy

The Northern Territory Firearms Council Inc operations consist primarily of meetings of delegates of member associations. Council does not tolerate the consumption of alcohol before or during meetings. Delegates that do so will be asked to remove themselves from the particular meeting with a warning that a repeat offence may result in being banned from future meetings of Council.


Council may from time to time hold informal gatherings where alcohol may be available. During these gatherings alcohol will only be provided in limited amounts and Council will encourage those attending such functions to drink responsibly and in moderation.
