HUNTING AREAS IN LITCHFIELD NOW CLOSED FROM 10 DECEMBER 2020 AFTER FURTHER RAINS. Parks & Wildlife Rangers have expressed thanks to the responsible behaviour of all authorised hunters during this calendar year and especially to those who assisted in reporting unauthorised intrusions into hunting areas and who provided locations of discovered items of unexploded ordnance.
WE ARE ACCEPTING NO FURTHER BOOKINGS AS THE TRACKS ARE APPROACHING IMPASSABLE. FURTHER TRAFFIC WILL JUST DAMAGE THE ACCESS TRACKS.
LAST YEAR 2019 ALSO WE JUST MANAGED TO MAKE IT TO THE FIRST WEEK IN DECEMBER.
PARKS & WILDLIFE ADVISED ON 31 AUGUST, LITCHFIELD HUNTING AREAS MAY RE-OPEN AFTER FIRES WERE BROUGHT UNDER CONTROL. AS AT 14 SEPT FIRES WERE AGAIN THREATENING TO AFFECT THE HUNTING AREAS. NOW RESOLVED. HUNT AREAS OPEN AGAIN. NEED TO KEEP EYE THOUGH ON SIGNIFICANT RAINS IN THE AREA WHICH COULD MEAN VERY EARLY WET SEASON. RAIN QUANTITIES STILL NOT A THREAT TO CLOSURE OF HUNT AREAS YEST (AS AT 13 NOV) EVEN THOUGH HAVE BEEN SIGNIFICANT BUT INTERMITTENT SHOWERS.
ONE DAY HUNT BY TWO REGULARS IN CENTRAL BLOCK ON 13 NOVEMBER TOOK 7 PIGS, 1 BUFF & 2 HORSES. VARIOUS OTHER ANIMALS SIGHTED BUT NOT TAKEN. BIT OF EXPERIENCE AND A LOT OF WALKING DOES THE JOB.NEWS : LITCHFIELD HUNTING AREAS RE-OPENED FROM MONDAY 18 MAY 2020. BOOKINGS SHOULD BE MADE IN FIRST INSTANCE BY EMAIL TO ... email@example.com AND WE WILL FORWARD TO YOU UPDATED PERMIT APPLICATION AND FEES PRO-FORMA ($30 Admin + $25 per day each hunter) .
PLEASE NOTE MUST BE MINIMUM HUNTING PARTY OF TWO LICENCED & ACCREDITED HUNTERS FOR SAFETY AND INSURANCE REASONS. AT TIME OF HUNT PERMIT ISSUE APPLICANTS MUST BE CURRENT MEMBERS OF AN AHO (Approved Hunting Organisation as required by Parks & Wildlife). The three approved AHOs are SSAA, Aust Deer Association and Field & Game. NOT NECESSARY TO BE AHO MEMBERS JUST IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE IN THE ACCREDITATION COURSE - BUT FINAL COMPLETION CERTIFICATE AND HUNT PERMIT ISSUE IS SUBJECT TO CURRENT LICENCING & AHO MEMBERSHIP.
Allocations will be made strictly in order of receipt of requests to be fair.

ACCREDITATION COURSES HAD RESUMED. COST $60. RUN FOR LESS THAN AN HOUR (1900 hrs Start) WITH SHORT TEST AT END. LOCATION RIFLE CLUB BUILDING MICKET CREEK COMPLEX - FIRST RANGE ON LEFT AFTER ENTRY). FEES NOW HAVE HAD TO BE INCREASED BY $5 to $60 TO ASSIST IN OFFSETTING COSTS.
PREVIOUS BCH ACCREDITATION COURSE DATE WAS TUESDAY 20 OCTOBER @ 1900 HRS . ATTRACTED TWO ATTENDEES ONLY - NOT SUSTAINABLE RE PREPARATION WORK REQUIRED.
NEXT DATE PROPOSED WAS TUES 1 DECEMBER (SUBJECT TO INTEREST INDICATED) AGAIN IN DRC BUILDING. NO NOMINATIONS RECEIVED. NO FURTHER COURSES PROPOSED THIS YEAR UNLESS SUDDEN INTEREST BY AT LEAST 4 PARTICIPANTS TO MAKE WORTHWHILE. IS APPARENTLY SOME EARLY INTEREST IN RESUMPTION OF ACCREDITATION COURSES IN PREPARATION FOR HUNT RESUMPTIONS. IF YOU ARE KEEN PLS SEND ME AN EMAIL.

The Council is an incorporated consultative and advisory body representing the interests of legitimate firearms owners and users throughout the Northern Territory.
The Council is supported by the Northern Territory Government and solely funded by government financial grants which are used to manage the Mickett Creek Shooting Complex, resource the position of executive officer, and the Council's functions, and maintain the Council's office in the Rifle Club Building at Mickett Creek.
