PARKS & WILDLIFE ADVISED ON 31 AUGUST, LITCHFIELD HUNTING AREAS MAY RE-OPEN AFTER FIRES WERE BROUGHT UNDER CONTROL. AS AT 14 SEPT FIRES WERE AGAIN THREATENING TO AFFECT THE HUNTING AREAS. NOW RESOLVED. HUNT AREAS OPEN AGAIN. NEED TO KEEP EYE THOUGH ON SIGNIFICANT RAINS IN THE AREA WHICH COUD MEAN VERY EARLY WET SEASON.NEWS : LITCHFIELD HUNTING AREAS RE-OPENED FROM MONDAY 18 MAY 2020. BOOKINGS SHOULD BE MADE IN FIRST INSTANCE BY EMAIL TO ... email@example.com AND WE WILL FORWARD TO YOU UPDATED PERMIT APPLICATION AND FEES PRO-FORMA ($30 Admin + $25 per day each hunter) .
PLEASE NOTE MUST BE MINIMUM HUNTING PARTY OF TWO LICENCED & ACCREDITED HUNTERS FOR SAFETY AND INSURANCE REASONS. AT TIME OF HUNT PERMIT ISSUE APPLICANTS MUST BE CURRENT MEMBERS OF AN AHO (Approved Hunting Organisation as required by Parks & Wildlife). The three approved AHOs are SSAA, Aust Deer Association and Field & Game. NOT NECESSARY TO BE AHO MEMBERS JUST IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE IN THE ACCREDITATION COURSE - BUT FINAL COMPLETION CERTIFICATE AND HUNT PERMIT ISSUE IS SUBJECT TO CURRENT LICENCING & AHO MEMBERSHIP.
Allocations will be made strictly in order of receipt of requests to be fair.

ACCREDITATION COURSES HAVE RESUMED. COST $60. RUN FOR LESS THAN AN HOUR (1900 hrs Start) WITH SHORT TEST AT END. LOCATION RIFLE CLUB BUILDING MICKET CREEK COMPLEX - FIRST RANGE ON LEFT AFTER ENTRY). FEES NOW HAD TO BE INCREASED BY $5 to $60 TO ASSIST IN OFFSETTING COSTS.

The Council is an incorporated consultative and advisory body representing the interests of legitimate firearms owners and users throughout the Northern Territory.
The Council is supported by the Northern Territory Government and solely funded by government financial grants which are used to manage the Mickett Creek Shooting Complex, resource the position of executive officer, and the Council's functions, and maintain the Council's office in the Rifle Club Building at Mickett Creek.
